Purposeful Strategies

Movement Building and Community Organizing

Some people make a distinction between community organizing (the process of using planned strategies to change a specific place for the better) and movement building (the process of organizing and helping to activate the will and capacity of people and organizations working collectively toward a vision they all share). We do both.

Collaborising vests its power in people and organizations so they can take the work wherever it needs to go. It’s about holding each person accountable to the group and acting in solidarity with each other.

Economic and Social Restorative Justice :

Restorative economics strategically reinvests resources back into communities so that they can develop the capacity and skills necessary to identify their priorities. In order to do this, we name and acknowledge the economic, social, and political harm that has been done; understand the root causes of that harm, and identify practices to ensure that those harms are not repeated. We use restorative justice to address the needs of people who’ve been harmed as well as the people who are causing the harm. We work to understand what each person needs to be restored in the relationship, and effectively return to working together in community. Collaborising uses multiple restorative justice principles to transform our economy and restore communities that have been harmed and excluded. We seek to bridge relationships within the local community, the nonprofit workplace, and in homeless encampments.

Person-Centered Philanthropy

Person-centered philanthropy places the person at the center of service. It prioritizes the person as human--not as their current social and economic condition of being homeless.  Our unhoused neighbors are directly involved in making decisions about their lives and financial needs. We believe that people innately know what is best for themselves.  Collaborising raises funds on behalf of homeless individuals according to their explicit needs rather than presupposing what we think they need.

Transformational Coaching:

Transformational Coaching is the process of partnering with a coach to support an individual through meaningful change that helps them grow, develop, and ultimately reimagine their reality. The coach recognizes the individual as competent, capable, creative, and resourceful enough to tap into the innate abilities that contribute to a better life. Collaborising uses this process to improve the lives of nonprofit professionals and encampment residents who seek a more fulfilled life. Reach out to us for consultation. We help people to help themselves.
